Avello Capture Extension

Effective August 18, 2026

What the extension does

Avello Capture lets a student intentionally send one school webpage to their Avello command board. It does not monitor browsing in the background. Nothing is captured until the student clicks the Avello toolbar button or chooses a Save to Avello action from the right-click menu.

Information sent to Avello

  • The address and title of the page the student chooses to capture.
  • Up to 120 characters of text the student deliberately selects, when applicable.
  • The chosen category: assignment, study material, or announcement.
  • A platform name inferred from the page address, such as Canvas, IXL, or Khan Academy.

Information the extension does not collect

The extension does not collect passwords, authentication tokens, cookies, form entries, complete browsing history, messages, payment information, precise location, or pages that the student does not intentionally capture. It does not sell data or use captured information for advertising.

How captured information is used and stored

The extension sends the selected page information over HTTPS to joinavello.com so the student can review it before saving. If saved, the information becomes part of that student's Avello workspace. Avello uses service providers, including Vercel for application hosting and Supabase for authentication and data storage, only to operate and secure the service. Users can edit, archive, or remove captured items in Avello.

Students and schools

Avello is designed for educational use. A child under 13 should use Avello only with authorization from a parent, guardian, or school as applicable. Schools and districts remain responsible for their own approval, consent, and student-data requirements before institutional use.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

The use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Captured information is used only to provide and improve the user-facing Avello capture workflow, operate and secure the service, comply with law, or respond to a user-authorized support request.

Retention, security, and choices

The extension itself does not maintain a browsing-history database. Captured items that a user saves remain in Avello until the user removes them or the applicable school or account retention rules require deletion. Information is transmitted using HTTPS. Users may uninstall the extension at any time and may contact Avello to request account-data access or deletion.
